In the event of you needing the assistance of Mountain Rescue
• Ask the operator for The Police (either on 999 or 112)
• Tell them that you require Mountain Rescue
You will be asked for the following information :
• The location you are calling from
• The location of the incident (a six figure grid reference and a named feature)
• What colour clothing are they wearing.
• The number of casualties
• What is wrong with them
• Are they getting worse?
• What equipment do you and the casualty have with them
• Your contact telephone number
• Wait to be contacted at that number by the Rescue co-ordinator
In response to the 999 call, the Police Control Room, in Stirling, will contact the Team Leadership by telephone. The Team contact will advise which is the most appropriate SAR asset to use and when…..
• This could be to do nothing!
• to contact the local MRT - if the incident falls outwith Lomond MRT's area of operation.
• to request assistance from SARDA
• or the Loch Lomond Rescue Boat
• or a Helicopter.
• or a combination of all of the above.
The Team Leader initiates a full team call-out by sending a text to a company called SMS-RESPONDER, which provides a mass texting facility. A text message is then sent to every team member giving details of the rendezvous point. The team member then texts back to indicate their availability.
Everyone available will then make their way to the rendezvous point as quickly as they are able. Once there, a plan will be made to effect the rescue.
