Full Team Call-Out initiated 13:26
A 46 year old male and his 15 year old daughter had got into difficulties walking above Ardess, East of Tom Eas. They were in contact, by mobile, with Central Scotland Police. The weather had been poor: thunder and lightning with high winds. Both casualties were cold and wet. Elements of the team were deployed up both edges of the corrie but progress was slow due to the steepness of the terrain and that all the burns were in spate due to the heavy rain.
At 15:00 , the weather had eased slightly and contact with the casualties had been made. The daughter, particularly, was very cold and wet and suffering from mild hypothermia. With light fading and worsening weather forecasted, a helicopter from RNAS Gannet was requested.
At 15:40, Rescue 177 arrived on scene and winched both father and daughter from the hillside. Father was set down at Rowardennan Hotel to retrieve his car and his daughter taken to the Glasgow Southern General for treatment.
Father had no waterproofs and daughter had a light waterproof jacket. Both were wearing wellington boots. Other than a few snack bars, no other ‘hill gear’ was carried.
All LMRT ground teams were recalled at 16:05.
