Call Out: 10th April 2007 - Ben More

A walker was reported missing following a fall on Ben More/Stob Binnein on Monday 09 April 2007. The report was made by his son at around 1930. Father & son were on a day's hill walking in the area and were reported to be descending Stob Binnein in the direction of Ben More when his father fell on scree at around 1400 and suffered a potential fracture to his ankle. At 1700 the son, aged 15 years, left his father and descended via Ben More Burn to the lodges near Ben More Farm where he raised the alarm. The father aged 49 was said to have no waterproof clothing, was wearing fabric boots but had a bivvy sack. Weather conditions were wet, windy with cloud on the tops.
Killin MRT searched the upper slopes of Stob Binnein till 0100 on Tuesday morning without locating the casualty. It was decided to begin a fresh search at 0800 with additional resources deployed.

A total of 62 MRT personnel were deployed in a comprehensive search of Ben More & Stob Binnein. The casualty was eventually located at Inverlochlarig Farm at around 1600. He was reported to be well considering his night out in the hills.
