Call Out : 14th January - Campsie FellsSTALKERS RESCUED FROM CAMPSIES

Two deer stalkers were rescued yesterday after spending a freezing night trapped on the Campsie Fells, north of Glasgow. Conditions were horrendous on the hill, with snow, low cloud and driving winds.

The stalkers, a local man and his shooting client from Newcastle lost their bearings near Dungoil Hill south of Fintry, as weather conditions worsened and darkness fell on Saturday night (12th Jan).Dungoil1

The alarm was raised on Sunday morning when the men did not return and a full scale search was immediately triggered by Central Scotland Police. As rescue parties from Lomond Mountain Rescue Team, assisted by a local farmer, scoured the area, they were aided in locating the pair by the sound of gunfire.

The two men were eventually found by rescuers and a Royal Navy rescue helicopter and flown to the Southern General Hospital in Glasgow.
