The Robertson Trust has pledged one of the most generous donations in recent years to Lomond MRT. The £30,000 enables the purchase of a much needed Search Control Vehicle for the Team.
Over the past year the Lomond Mountain Rescue Team has been fundraising with the aim to buy a bespoke rescue vehicle. The vehicle will significantly improve the operational capabilty of one of the countries busiest teams. Simon Jones, Fundraising Officer with LMRT explained further, “We had expected it to take us around 18 months to raise the £40,000.00 we need to buy and fit out a specialist mountain rescue vehicle. This is usually a slow process requiring a great deal of time and effort by many people, but with one donation of £30,000.00 the Robertson Trust has made it possible for us to secure a vehicle within a matter of weeks”.

Richard Hunter, a Trustee of the Robertson Trust added,“We are delighted to be able to assist Lomond Mountain Rescue Team in the vital work it carries out. All members of the Team are unpaid volunteers, saving lives often in dangerous mountainous conditions, but they do need financial assistance to allow them to carry out such a service and this is where we have been able to help”.
David Dodson, Team Leader of LMRT (pictured accepting the cheque from Richard Hunter), said afterwards “We are very grateful to the Robertson Trust for this generous donation and look forward to having our new multi-purpose rescue vehicle ready for action in the next few months”.
