Call Out : 27th March Ben Lomond

The police contacted the team just after 1 am on Friday morning. They had been called by Lothian & Borders Police after a woman reported her husband missing. Whilst she was in Edinburgh, her husband had been staying at a timeshare in Kinlochard.
On Wednesday , he planned to walk from Balmaha to Rowardennan, then over the shoulder of Ben Lomond back to Kinlochard.
The Team were assembled at Rowardennan by 2 am to begin the search. Groups were spread out over Ben Lomond, The West Highland Way and the maze of forestry tracks between Ben Lomond and Kinlochard. The weather conditions were particularly testing and challenging through the night.
Around six am, with the first phase nearing completion, further
support was requested from Ochils MRT and two further search dogs. Around 8 am, a military helicopter was requested. At the same time, the services of Leuchars MRT was offered and also accepted.
The Royal Navy helicopter, from RNAS Gannet, landed at the Youth hostel at 09.30 as the call came through that the missing person had been found tired, cold and hungry but otherwise in good health. The team was stood down soon after once confirmation was obtained.
Eleven Lomond MRT members attended the call out.
