Central Scotland Police contacted the Team at 11:35 to request assistance. A soldier from Bristol had been reported missing by his wife on the 23rd June. He had last been seen on the 21st June and had taken an Army Landrover without permission.
The vehicle had been left at NS 587 880, between Kilearn and Fintry on Tuesday afternoon (22nd June) and was reported by a local farmer to the police. The police confirmed that he was not armed and no weapons were missing but they were concerned for the safety and well-being of the missing soldier.
As the team assembled and before they could be deployed, news came in that RAF Kinloss Mountain Rescue Team were being mobilized in support. Further police enquiries established that the missing person had a friend who lived at a local farm who confirmed that the soldier had left there around 10 minutes previously and was crossing over nearby fields. With that, the Team was stood down at 12:49 with eight team members in attendence or on route to the RV.
