Call Out: 16th July 2010 - Conic HillThe Team Leader was contacted by Central Scotland Police Control at 13:28 in response to a call from Ambulance Control to help an injured walker on Conic Hill. The injured 63 year-old walker was coming off the summit of Conic Hill when he slipped on a steep section of the path; he fell and twisted his leg at the same time. Such was the pain in his right ankle that he could not continue and raised the alarm. A full team call-out was initiated at 13:32 with the RV at the car park at Balmaha.

The first team members left Balmaha soon after 14:10 and, after discussions with the attending Police Officers, a request for a helicopter from RNAS Gannet was made. When the Rescue Sea-King arrived on scene at 14:45, a party of Lomond MRT members had arrived at the casualty-site, administered pain-relief gas, splinted the injured leg and relieved the Loch Lomond National Park Ranger who had arrived earlier to assist the injured walker.

Very quickly a crewman was winched from the helicopter to assess the situation and prepare the casualty for winching up into the aircraft. This was done efficiently and the casualty taken off to the Southern General Hospital in Glasgow for treatment. The Stand down text was sent at 15:11 as the team made their way off the hill. Twelve team members attended the incident.
