ABOUT LOMOND MOUNTAIN RESCUE TEAM
OUR MISSION
Lomond MRT provides an unparalleled rescue service on the mountains, lochs and forests in Central Scotland. The charity, formed in 1967, covers one thousand square miles of geographically diverse terrain largely within the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park.
OUR TEAM
Our volunteer full team members are available 24 hours a day 365 days a year to assist lost, ill or injured walkers, runners, cyclists, climbers and holiday makers within the region. Centrally located in a purpose built Rescue Post, in the village of Drymen, the Team is ideally situated to quickly respond to any emergency in its off road vehicles.
Members meet three times a month (midweek and weekends) to train in a broad spectrum of skills - such as advanced first aid, search mangement, casualty care, navigation, off road driving, radio communications and technical ropework. In addition to general rescue training, members are also committed to a series of essential fund raising days, committee meetings and actual call outs.
WHO WE WORK WITH
The Team works closely with a variety of external agencies. Our search dog handlers are affiliated to SARDA Southern (the Search and Rescue Dog Association), Police Scotland initiate our call outs, the Loch Lomond Rescue Boat assists the team in shoreline searches and transportation to the many Islands on Loch Lomond. Finally, the most visible link, with the new Bristows S92 Rescue 999 from Prestwick.
