#CallOut Ben Lomond

23rd April 2014

A party of four walkers were making their way off Ben Lomond when their their dog, a brown labrador, went missing. After a brief search, they found the dog on a small ledge about 100ft below the summit to the North West. The ground around the ledge was very difficult to negotiate and they decided to contact Police Scotland for advice.

Lomond Team Leader spoke with the owner to get specific details, and initiated a limited team call out to rescue ‘Duke’. With the weather deteriorating, it was agreed with the walkers that they would wait in their group shelter at the bealach while seven Team made their way to near the summit of Ben Lomond.

On arrival, some of the Team assisted with the technical recovery of the Labrador, while others escorted the cold party down the hill. The dog’s owner waited to be reunited with Duke, his ten and a half month old companion. With the weather closing in, Duke, a happy owner and the Team made their way off the hill in worsening weather.

The stand down text was sent at 18.17 with individuals reaching the car park at Rowardennan at 19.30.
