#CallOut Bikes on the Bealach
6th August 2015
Police Scotland alerted the Team at 19.20 to request assistance for six mountain bikers who were stranded on the slopes of Ben Venue. In direct contact with the party of five males and one female, via mobile phone, it was clear they were in the Bealach nam Bo area, overlooking Loch Katrine.
The #CallOut was sent at 19.32 and their exact location was confirmed using SARLOC. The group had set off from Stronachlachar to cycle along the South side of Loch Katrine. Here a good track deteriorates further along the loch, into a small, often muddy, footpath which rises up and over the flanks of Ben Venue. Cold, tired and hungry they were unsure of their route.
It was arranged to evacuate the group of cyclists by boat (operated by a local member of Killin MRT) from the nearest shoreline.
The stand down was send at 21.33
