ADVICE: Do you need our help?

If you or a group member are seriously injured or just not coping with the environment you find yourselves in then call for help.The following questions are designed to help you if you are unsure whether to make the call.

 

Are you lost?

 

Do you have map and compass and can you use them?

Is it safe to explore the terrain and locate yourself?

Are you on steep ground?

Are Avalanche conditions a concern?Do you think the weather will ease and give better visibility?

Are you equipped to wait for better conditions?

Are you physically and mentally coping with the conditions?

 

Is a member of your party injured or sick?

 

Can they walk?

Do you think it is a minor or major injury?

Would walking make the injury or medical condition worse?

Do they have a medical condition that is getting worse?

Are you physically and mentally coping with the conditions?

 

Still not sure?

 

If you are in doubt about your situation it is far better to call for assistance and discuss your situation with the Police. They can forward your call on to the relevant mountain rescue team.

 

Remember dial 999 and request Police then Mountain Rescue
