#CallOut - West Highland Way

14th July 2015

Police Scotland sent out a ‪#‎CallOut‬ text to the Team at 17.20. A walker on the WHW had found a mountain biker " male, approximately three or four miles North of Inversnaid - one or two miles south of Inverarnan"

 

A full Team call out was issued at 17.31. The Team Leader contacted Police Control and agreed that the Loch Lomond Boat should be tasked.

 

Meanwhile the passing walker was able to pass on further information regarding the incident. A smart phone GPS locating program (SARLOC) was used to pinpoint the casualties location.

 

The casualty, a 63 year old male from Bonnyrigg, had fallen from his bike. The casualty was concerned he may have been unconscious, exhibiting severe pains in his ribs and shoulder with superficial bleeding from a wrist injury.

 

In light of his condition a helicopter evacuation was requested, to land at Inversnaid. Police Control confirmed that the helicopter had been tasked to assist and was due on scene at 18.20.

 

Loch Lomond Rescue Boat crew recovered the casualty and transported him down to Inversnaid to the waiting SAS Helimed. The casualty was loaded in to the helicopter and transferred to the Southern General.

 

The Team were stood down at 19.08
