50th Anniversary

28th December 2017

Today is an auspicious day in the history of Lomond Mountain Rescue Team.

At 7.45pm on December the 28th, 1967, a gathering of interested individuals held a meeting at Montrose House, Balmaha. The proposal, by Sandy Seabrook, was to establish a mountain rescue team in the Loch Lomond and Trossachs area.

Those present, that evening, voted in favour to voluntarily give their time and expertise to those in need. Sandy was to become our very first Team Leader. (the original documents are pictured below - courtesy of former Team Leader Bob Sharp)

Tonight is officially our 'actual' 50th Anniversary. Thank you to all our colleagues and supporters, both now and then. We look forward to the next fifty! Regards, from all at Lomond MRT.
